Triton Fountain

In Greek mythology, Poseidon, the sea god, ordered his son Triton, to blow on a trumpet made of a conch shell to soothe the waves.

Based on a 19th century interpretation of the Bernini’s Fontane del Tritone, in Rome, the Radcliffe Observatory Triton has a scallop shell instead of a conch shell.
